Self Rescue 2.0

This clinic will expand on the skills needed to assist an injured climber and or to have the knowledge in how to handle a given assist situation. We will be covering self rescue techniques that focus on rescue from above, including counter weighted rappels, assisted hoist, and mechanical hoist. These are skills that would apply to scenarios such as crevasse terrain, top belay, and multi pitch climbing.

Transition from belay to counterweighted rapels
Assisted hoist
Mechanical hoist
Qualifications: Due to the nature of this class you need a certain knowledge base prior to this type of clinic, including
Previous ascending experience, or competency in ascending, belay takeover, and assisted rappels.
Lead climb experience and outdoor climbing experience.
Experience with top belay using an ATC and/or GriGri
Gear: You will need your own gear in order to participate in the class. Plan to be outside the majority of the day unless there is heavy rain.
Helmet-you can rent one from us if needed
Harness
Two 5-7mm 60" cordellette (to be used for prussiks)
One 7-8mm cordelette ~15 feet. (ie anchor building cordellette)
One 48 inch nylon runner/sling
Four locking carabiners
ATC BD guide or Petzl Reverso
Petzl Tibloc or Ascenders (Optional)
Gri-Gri or similar assisted belay device (Optional)
Pulley and/or MicroTraxion (Optional)
